International Youth Seminar

International Youth Seminar

The Beginning of an Idea

The vision for the International Youth Seminar emerged from a simple conviction: that young Catholic men do not need more information about their faith so much as they need to see it lived. As Plato observed, the mind is not a vessel to be filled but a fire to be lit. Across borders and backgrounds, the struggles of building an interior life amid a culture of endless alternatives are remarkably the same, and so, we believe, are the responses to them.

Our vision is to create a space in the Swiss Alps where the constant friction of practicing faith in a secular world simply disappears, where no one has to justify or downplay what they believe, and where the energy usually spent on self-defence is freed for something better: sharpening one another. We want to take holiness off its pedestal and place it within reach, showing that sanctity is not reserved for another kind of person or another era of history but is available now, in the ordinary fabric of a young person's life. Above all, we hope that young men who arrive as strangers leave as brothers, having discovered that they are not alone and that they are stronger together than apart. As iron sharpens iron.
